Most people are aware that old works of art are potentially valuable and this of course also applies to violins, violas and cellos. But just how valuable are they? Just because you have an old violin it doesn’t mean that it’s worth a fortune, but it may be worth something…
If you wish to use musical instruments as a financial investment, you can do very well, if you know what you are doing, or if you take the advice of a trusted expert. Many fine old instruments have increased in value considerably, but this naturally depends on who has made the instrument, who has verified that the instrument is indeed by the maker claimed and even, dare I say it, what type of instrument is currently in ‘vogue’. Given time and care though, most instrument will increase in value.
I am happy to assess, appraise or even source instruments for you if you are thinking of making not only a musical, but a financial investment. Whether it is for a modest, but worthwhile instrument, through to fine old masterpieces, you’ll find I’m here to help. I can provide certificates for insurance purposes or written appraisals as to the condition of an instrument should you be considering buying or selling.
